Ruby+Associates Provides Value through Constructability as Structural Engineer for Mercy Health Partners
Posted: 5/24/2006

Ruby+Associates, a structural engineering firm based in Farmington Hills, MI has been selected as a member of the Design/Build team for the construction of the new Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, Ohio.

With the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Heart Pavilion construction in process in Toledo, Ohio, Ruby will continue as the structural engineer of record for Mercy Health Partners as plans are prepared for construction of a new hospital and healthcare campus in Tiffin, Ohio.  The $60.4 million project will be a significant investment in the city and reinforces Mercy Hospital of Tiffin’s commitment to the community it has served for more than 93 years.

The project team has implemented constructability throughout the construction of the Toledo facility and will follow this same process during design and construction of the Tiffin facility.  "By engaging the fabricator and erectors at the onset, Ruby+Associates delivers exceptional design quality and an accelerated project schedule,” says George Karagiorge, Director of Facilities, Mercy Health Partners.  “This delivery method is better and faster than any other method we've ever used."

The new 3-story, 140,000 square foot hospital and attached 60,000 square foot medial office building is scheduled to be completed in 2008. Throughout the coming months, Mercy Hospital of Tiffin’s administration and staff will finalize site and design plans as preparations are made to break ground in August of 2006.

Other team members include Martell Associates Healthcare Architecture, Inc., The Lathrop Company, Art Iron Inc. and JDRM Engineering, Inc., all based in Toledo, Ohio.
